Clinical Practice Guidelines

Translation Policy

Overview

Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) was established in 2003 as an independently incorporated, non-profit foundation governed by an international Board with the stated mission to “improve the care and outcomes of kidney disease patients worldwide by promoting coordination, collaboration, and integration of initiatives to develop and implement clinical practice guidelines.”

Since its founding, KDIGO has made significant strides in uniting the global nephrology community to improve the care and outcomes of kidney disease patients worldwide. It has published papers in international journals, presented at international meetings and is becoming identified as the central entity for coordination of clinical practice guidelines in nephrology.

To facilitate the global adoption of KDIGO clinical practice guidelines, we welcome efforts to provide KDIGO clinical practice guidelines, papers and presentations in as many languages as possible. KDIGO as a non-profit organization relies on the support of board and work group members and other parties to provide translations that enable communities around the world to understand and implement KDIGO’s work.

We invite you to volunteer to translate or fund the translation of a KDIGO clinical practice guideline, paper or presentation into another language. KDIGO currently develops all guidelines and supporting materials in English and translates each Guideline Executive Summary (guideline recommendation statements only) into several languages which have included: Spanish, French, Italian, German, Chinese, Turkish, Russian and Arabic.

KDIGO is managed by the National Kidney Foundation, a U.S. foundation with over ten years’ experience in developing and implementing guidelines.
